  I was so sad to learn that Il Mulino has closed it's doors. I went to purchase another gDine as a gift for my visiting in-laws, only to discover Il Mulino was gone:( The most amazing dining experience, and unfortunately you will have to go to NYC to find out. Thanks gDine for allowing me the opportunity while they were here:)

  I've read several comments, one of which specifically discussed feeling rushed by the service. My date and I did the prix fixe special on gDine(4 course meal for two). Before we were able pick our appetizer, we were greeted, very quickly with a variety of breads, anti-pasta dish, and delicious zucchini chips. I can understand how you would feel rushed, but after the initial service I found the pace of the meal to be very pleasant. As a point of reference, my date and I were there for 3 hours, so when I say the pace of the service was great by no means did we feel rushed. Our wine glasses were kept full, there was the occasionally check to see if we were ready for the next course but never interrupted our conversation, and we had a complimentary after dinner shot/drink which was tasty and topped off a wonderful evening. The atmosphere is very romantic. It is very easy to get lost in your own table as you feel you are in your own bubble. The gentlemen behind us purposed to his now fiancé and put smiles on everyone in the room. Soft lighting, candles and roses at each table. Dress was a wide range, several people very dressed up as they were going to a show/opera after, some casual with nice jeans and a nice sweater. Would suggest to be more over dressed than under, but by no means is a tux/suit required.

  Il Mullino harkens back to a time when food was way beyond ordinary and the service was impeccable. I met the executive chef and thanked him for a meal and service that was priceless. I will be returning often.

  Our first course was amazing, as was dessert. Everything in between was kind of "meh". We had a four course meal, which took 3 1/2 hours, which was fine, but before our desserts had even been cleared, the staff was asking us to leave to make room for another reservation. Luckily, they bought us a drink at the bar to make up for it. Also, we asked for still water with the meal, which I understand has a price attached to it. However, I did not tell the wait staff to keep the water coming, refill our glasses after each sip, etc. We ended up paying $40 for water. All in all, I'd say it's a good place to impress a date or celebrate an anniversary, but skip it and find somewhere better, a little less pretentious, and a little more honest, otherwise. Given all the amazing places to eat in this city, it shouldn't be hard.

  Ordinary Italian, good but not worth the price. Too salty. Upscale only in the ambiance, not the taste. We prefer the food at Rosebud's.

  I had eaten at Il Mulino 3-4 times before, recommended it often and was excited to see it on gdine. Because of this I decided to take my work group out for a holiday dinner instead of lunch. After we were seated I took a look at the wine list and our server asked me if I needed suggestions. He recommended a magnum red wine that was "on special" and a white as well. I should have asked specifically for those prices but I trusted the waiter and was enjoying spending time with my employees. There are many wines on their list in the $50-100/bottle range, so I was shocked to receive the check for over $1500 before gratuity, for 6 bottles of wine (two were magnums) and just 4 other cocktails. I fully expected a bar bill that was 1 to 1 1/2 times the cost of the food, but this was excessive. I feel like they targeted our dinner as an "expense account" group and took advantage of me. The food was excellent, as usual, but this experience has completely turned me off and it is unlikely that I will ever return or recommend Il Mulino to others.

  We used to frequent this restaurant and have a wonderful experience at $200 per head. However when I saw the $40 per person on gdine I thought what's the catch. NO CATCH! amazing service even though they new we were there for the $40 special. SOOOO impressed. Thank you

  the old mansion charm was wonderful. the staff was extremely attentive (sometimes maybe just a bit too much...but nothing significant). there were many wonderful touches like the complimentary antipasto and the grappa. the fried zucchini was way too greasy and the food was good but nothing that left me saying "wow". for the price i expected flavors that would "pop" more than they did.
