Grils Night Out-french Style
Comments Had a really nice evening. Food was very good- a bit too much butter on the trout! Staff very accommodating to special requests.

Comments Convivial bistro atmosphere with several food hits, a few misses. Escargots with Pernod were unremarkable and lacking taste. Chicken liver pate with crostini and accoutrements was rich and tasty, however. Steak frites and tallow fries were excellent. Salmon in parchment paper was spiced nicely and cooked perfectly. Profiteroles were so-so; vanilla creme brulee great. Exemplary selection of wine and beer. Try Gavroche beer.

Comments For us, Bistro Bordeau is a neighborhood place and reliably very good but rarely wonderful - except for the frites. Saturday night, though, a Mediterranean lamb ragout with gnocchi was terrific, and first courses - chicken liver pate, escargots--were very good. Service was, as usual, excellent.

Comments I felt that Bistro Bordeaux was as close as I've come to a Parisien bistro in the Chicago area. Quaint atmosphere and decor, but you have to enjoy close quarters. Interesting food choices, very well prepared. We had the skatewing and the rabbit cassoulet as our main courses, and both were very good. The wine list is almost all French (I think there was one California sparkling wine), and the cheese selections also were all French - and excellent. Classic French desserts/pastries too. Service was excellent, but a bit slow, however we enjoy a leisurely pace.
I highly recommend for anyone who desires a quick culinary trip to Paris!

Some of the entrees could've been lighter on their feet with a little more acid to cut up the fat. Still, a nice place to sit and relax.
